Why This Matters to Los Feliz
Los Angeles' firefighters don't just respond to emergencies — they live in their stations for days at a time. That's especially true at LAFD Station 35, located at 1601 N Hillhurst Ave in the heart of Los Feliz. The men and women who protect our Los Feliz homes, Griffith Park hills, and surrounding neighborhoods deserve safe, functional living spaces.
During our visit and while filming this fundraiser video, the Rooster Homes team saw firsthand the areas most in need of support. Our footage documented several key concerns inside the Los Feliz fire station, including:
- Ceilings showing water damage and deterioration
- Broken or sealed windows limiting airflow and natural light
- Aging air-conditioning systems struggling in Los Angeles heat
- Outdated laundry facilities that can't fully remove toxins from firefighting gear

Station 35's crew serves one of Los Angeles' busiest and most diverse neighborhoods. Many firefighters spend multiple nights per shift living on-site in Los Feliz, making the quality of the station's living conditions essential to their well-being and ability to protect our community.
